Sydney is one of the great cities of the world and its CBD one of the most physically spectacular – with a tension between warm colonial heritage of Macquarie Street and the hard edge of glass and steel culminating in the Opera House – perhaps the most beautiful modern building in the world.

This is also a vibrant retail, commercial, legal centre that even in periods of downturn always seems to maintain a spring in its step.

It is my hope that our Society will steadily grow in its membership and programme to meet the expectations that such a city creates.

CSLS membership offers the very best value in Continuing Legal Education – one hour seminars a year held regularly each Wednesday from 5:30pm and free to members.

These weekly seminars have also provided the context for many new friendships as colleagues just meet and chat.

Our annual programme includes the Law Week Breakfast (in about May), a Cocktail Evening with Magistrates and District Court Judges (in October) and our Annual Dinner (in November).

My chief hope is that through the programmes of the Society our members will increasingly experience a genuine sense of fraternity – truly enjoying each other’s company – which makes professional life so much richer than just a job.
